Ms. Keogh visits the Musee D'Orsay in Paris

Ms. Keogh was in Paris over the October mid term break and she visited the Musee D'Orsay. This art gallery has one the worlds largest collections of Impressionist and Post Impressionist artworks. Many of the paintings there are on the Leaving Certificate Art History curriculum.

Ms. Keogh's First Year Optical Art Mixed Media Compositions

After studying the work of Bridget Riley and doing a block on colour theory, all first years were assigned a pair of complimentary colours. They each created their own optical art composition by sketching up the composition step by step; using a mixture of poster paints and their tints; and colouring pencils with shading to create 3D form to their shapes. Overall they all managed to create vivid and bold optical illusion compositions.

TY musical stage set October 22nd

Lots more progress made this week. It was the last musical day before mid term break and the aim was to get as much done as possible that was needed to be done on stage so we could possibly hand the stage over to the cast the first Thursday after mid term. I think we may have managed this! As various different jobs got finished, as well as more 3D props started, and the girls even managed to tidy up and clear off the stage at the end of the day. Ms. Keogh also managed to block in the sun and sky up high in the area that is well out of reach for the pupils. She aims to work it up in detail after mid term. Onwards with more props the first thursday after mid -term!

More great progress made this week. Some of 3d props were started by Ciara and Ruth when they talked the cacti out of cardboard. Fatima and Katerina continued working on the large Tutankamun face and the rest of the group continued with the finishing touches to the various large flats that we have. Hoping to move onto even more large scale props next week!
